It's been another dry spell... but the rain is here so we're gonna try to fill your cup!!

Can any of you believe that its October already?? Where did this year go?? Everyone we speak to agrees that we scarcely had a summer this year. Our recent heat spell has received mixed emotion after our all but non existent summer. Today its raining...who knows what tomorrow will bring!!

This past weekend we were treated to a wonderful General Conference. It's always great to hear our prophet, Pres Thomas S Monson, speak....but especially wonderful during our Conference sessions. He is such a warm & genuine man...we LOVED his talks...as well as all of those who shared during this 180th Semi-Annual General Conference.

On Sunday evening, Oct 4th...we were delighted to share in the joy as Delia Torres was baptized by her husband, Emilio Torres. It was a beautiful service. Her brother-in-law, Hector Torres, gave a great talk about baptism. Sister Cathy Torres, Emilio's mother... blessed the meeting with a musical number...and Emilio's grand mother, Sister Elizabeth Ausman, spoke about the Holy Ghost. We are sooo excited to welcome Delia to our ward family. If you have not had the privilege of meeting her...please make every effort to introduce yourself to her. She is a beautiful young lady & we know she will be a great asset to our ward.

This Wednesday, Oct 6th, 2010.....is our ward Temple Night...our session begins at 6:30pm. Please plan to attend...there are many waiting for their work to be done!!

Thursday, Oct 21st, 2010 will be a RS Activity Night at 6:30pm at the Foothill Bldg...Martha Rivera...a recent convert & member of our ward...will be teaching us how to make some really cute aprons. These will be great for Christmas gifts!! We will also have another seasonal activity available. Details forthcoming!!

Saturday, Oct 3oth, 2010 at 4:30-7:30pm is our Ward Halloween Party. Please come join us for a F-U-N filled evening of games, food and trunk or treating. Dinner will be served promptly at 5pm...there will be game booths, a cookie walk....trunk or treating will take place in our parking lot at dark.

We hope all of you are enjoying this Autumn season...life just picks up speed from now through the holidays...make sure you take some time to stop, slow down and enjoy the beauty of the season.

Thanks for the memories......!

Dr Suess said "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened".

Whenever you change callings there is a bit of bittersweetness that comes with the change. There is certainly a sense of relief especially with the mantle of this calling, but there are many things that I will greatly miss and have thouroughly enjoyed. I know I speak for my wonderful counselors when "we" say that we loved getting to know each of you on a personal level and especially enjoyed visiting many of you in your homes. We hope you have been able to feel of our genuine concern for you and the situations that you all face. We have felt of your love and support when we have put out a call for help, whether it was service or for meals, we always knew we could count on our "sisters" to help out when needed. We have learned so much from each of you and your examples in how you handle life situations that come your way, and gleaning from your strong testimonies. I am so thankful for my counselors and their support, they were always there, eager and willing to help in every capacity, putting their problems on the back burner, and putting on their game face to help others. I know that is it true what they say, that Visiting Teaching is truly the most important calling that we have. If we are faithful visiting teachers, we will be blessed, as we bless the lives of others. I am certainly not perfect at it, but I do know of its importance. I know that this calling was not for your benefit, but for mine, for I have truly grown and learned so many things that I would have not been able to do any other way. I found myself in some "intersting" situations, but have learned much from being there. We give our full support to the new RS Presidency and have full confidence in their abilities to lead this ward and meet the needs of our sisters. Carry on sisters of the First Ward there are great things to come with the new presidency! We love you all!!

Explosion in the Hill Family--2009

2009 was a banner year for Debbie Hill!! She and her husband Dave, welcomed 6 new grandchildren! I did say 6!! And they were all within a few months of each other.

Aren't they just so cute! They are: Aaron Cole; born to Danny and Nici on 11-04 Preston Sean; born to Sean and Ashley born 9-28, Ainsley Brie; born to Gina and Jason on 9-16, Avery Elizabeth, born to Janelle and Tyson on 9-9, Eden Aftyn; born to Dusty and Joslyn on 9-25 and Payton June; born to Jordan and Kerissa on 6-9. Not sure I got them in the right order, but close! What a great blessing for a great family!
